Which Pilates class should I join?

Pilates is a personal thing, even in a group class, and I want you to get the most out of your Pilates practice.

This is why I recommend everyone starts with my intro offer for 3 private sessions and why I offer small group classes for 4-5 people.

This way, everyone gets attention and you learn how to take care of your body in class and in daily life.

If we haven’t met yet, check out my last blog post for more info about how I teach Pilates and how that helps you get what you want out of your Pilates practice.

Back to mat classes…

Let me explain a bit more about each of my mat classes, what each class looks like and who each option is for.

My new mat class timetable kicks off on Monday 4 September at the new studio on Belmont Road.

Classes run in 6-week terms and I have an introductory class term price for the first classes in the new studio.

I can’t wait to see you then!

Foundations class

Monday @ 6.45pm

Thursday @ 10am

First up is my Foundations mat class.

When you give yourself the opportunity to dive into the fundamentals, you lay the foundations to a strong and supple body and a lifetime of feeling good in your body.

There is no rush.

This class is ideal if you are new to Pilates, haven’t done it regularly, or if you have injuries or health concerns that affect your movement.

✅ Mindful pace

✅ Focus on the essential building blocks

✅ Create a strong foundation for your body and your ongoing Pilates practice

If you want to know more about why it's so valuable to build your foundations, check out my blog post here.

Forge class

Monday @ 5.45pm

Tuesday @ 10am

All that matters is what’s right for your body.

When it’s right for you, my Forge class is there to help you get to grips with more of the original Pilates mat exercises.

This class is ideal if you have done Pilates regularly.

✅ Build on the exercises you learn in the Foundations class and take them to the next level

✅ Increase your pace and strength

✅ Add more exercises and become familiar with the original mat exercises and Classical Pilates order

Here’s one example.

This video shows how I introduce you to the Open Leg Rocker in my Forge class and some of the variations of how I can help you build up to the final version of the exercise.

This might take weeks, months or years, that’s not important.

Maybe it’s never going to be suitable for your body, that’s OK too.

Everyone works on the version that is helpful to their body and when you have control and strength…that’s where progress happens.

No need to skip to the end and miss out on the true benefits and enjoyment of each exercise.

Pilates is for life.

Flow class

Wednesday @ 6pm

Last but not least, there’s my Flow class.

You put together all the skills you’ve learnt in my Foundations and Forge classes to create a strong understanding of Pilates in your body, and then you’re ready to flow.

This class is for experienced students who are injury-free, have a strong understanding of Pilates and know the Classical Pilates order.

Now you’re ready to keep moving!

✅ Build your pace and stamina

✅ Learn how to transition between the exercises to flow from one exercise to the next

✅ Add more advanced exercises to challenge you and go upside-down with overhead exercises

You become more independent. We can go deeper into the exercises in class and you are well-equipped for a strong self-practice. Win-win!
