Intro session

Everyone starts with an intro session.

Even if you've done Pilates before.

Why?

Pilates is personal and your body is unique.

In this session you will tune into how you move, learn how to take care of your body and get a personal recommendation on how to get the most out of your Pilates practice.

If you can’t come in-person, or you don’t live in Belfast, you can take your intro session online.

 Getting started FAQs

  • Your body is unique and Pilates is a personal thing, even in a group class. I help you tune into how you move your body so you know how to take care of it.

This is important for everyone. Plus it is key if you have health concerns like back pain, joint problems (e.g. osteoporosis) or injuries (new or old).

I’ll introduce you to the Pilates system, using the traditional Pilates equipment and the original mat exercises.

I’ll help you get more out of your Pilates practice, even if you’ve done it before, and give you a personal recommendation on the next steps to get what you want out of doing Pilates.

  • You can see my availability and book your intro session on the booking page.

It’s the first option on the booking page under ‘Intro session (new clients start here)’.

If you need any help with booking, get in touch.

  • The studio address is First Floor, 71 Belmont Road, Belfast BT4 2AA.

I’m based in East Belfast. The studio is above the Belmont Larder, which is opposite Morelli’s ice cream.

See below for my full location and contact information.

Access to the first floor is by stairs. If you have any access requirements, please get in touch.

    I also offer online sessions.

  • We have a quick chat first so I can find out more about you.

I will choose the best exercises for your body on the reformer, mat and other equipment. You get a fun session tailored to you based on your reasons for doing Pilates.

There’s more information about the type of movements you do in Pilates on my general FAQs page.

  • I provide everything you need for your sessions and classes in the studio. Feel free to bring water, especially when it’s warm.

For online sessions, you need a mat and I’ll give you tips on how to set up at home and details about anything else you need.

There’s more information on my general FAQs page, including tips for buying a mat for practicing at home.

  • Choose clothes you can move freely in and a clean pair of socks.

If wearing looser-fit shorts, please wear fitted shorts beneath them.

I recommend avoiding clothes with zips or buttons, and removing watches and jewellery.

There are more tips about this on my general FAQS page.

  • It depends on your body, why you are doing Pilates and what will help you stay consistent.

I will recommend next steps after your intro session. This might be continuing with regular private sessions, preparing you to move into my mat classes or doing a combination of private sessions and classes.

I have private session packages for coming once a week and twice a week.

  • I get asked things like this all the time.

Worried you need to be more flexible or stronger to do Pilates? That’s why you’re here, let’s get started. You learn how to create the balance between these two things in every session.

Do you feel like you’re too young to be concerned about looking after your body for when you’re older? Now is the best time to give your body its best future.

Wondering if Pilates is for men? Pilates was created by a man for every body.

I teach men and women of all ages (from their 30s to 70s), various levels of fitness and body types. I support you to work at your own pace and help you adjust the exercises to suit you.

Life would be pretty boring if you could do everything the first time you tried. That’s part of the fun.

Some exercises take weeks, months or years — that’s not important. Enjoy moving your body now and learn how to create a maintenance plan for your body for life.

  • Check out my general FAQ page for more answers to common questions or email me.

“You listen to your body, adjust to make it work for you and push yourself all while Christine motivates you. I love these sessions and Christine is so good at listening and then putting a plan into place.”
